North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) (www.ncbar.org)
The N.C. Bar Association is the largest voluntary legal organization in the state. It serves the diverse professional needs of lawyers and the general public with programs including professional support, lobbying on issues of interest to the Bar, continuing legal education programs, legal information materials, the Lawyer Referral Service, and support for pro bono legal services.
North Carolina State Bar (NCSB) (www.ncbar.com)
The State Bar is the N.C. agency charged with regulating and disciplining attorneys. All lawyers licensed to practice in North Carolina must be members of the State Bar, which was established by the General Assembly in the 1930s.
North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers (NCATLA) (www.ncatl.org)
The North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers (NCATL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association dedicated to protecting people's rights through professional and community legal education, championing individual rights, and protecting the safety of North Carolina's families — in the workplace, in the home, and in the environment.
The NCATL also serves as a valuable aid for lawyers, providing numerous seminars to help attorneys improve their skills and to update them on changes in law.
American Assocation for Justice( www.atla.org)
American Association of Justice is a national organization which supports the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in America's courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests. American Bar Association (ABA) (www.abanet.org)
The ABA provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, programs to assist lawyers and judges in their work, and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public.
