Benjamin BurnsideDan Deuterman is recognized by his peers and his clients as an expert in Workers' Compensation cases. In his 17-year law career, he has helped countless injured workers and their families obtain the medical care and the compensation they deserve. In fact, he has achieved some of the highest Workers' Compensation settlements in the state of North Carolina.

Dan is one of the select group of Board Certified Specialists in Workers' Compensation Law practicing in North Carolina, giving him a decided advantage as he works on your behalf. Every workers’ compensation attorney at the Deuterman Law Group is a board certified specialist, a claim most law firms cannot make.

Dan is also deeply committed to community service and volunteer work. He supports a number of charities and community organizations through gifts of his time, expertise and financial contributions. He also believes that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, deserves legal representation and the justice that it brings. He supports the 4ALL campaign of the N.C. Bar Association, which is committed to ending injustice by providing the poor and needy better access to the legal system.

Dan was born in Highland Park, Illinois, and received his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, J.D., in 1991.

Dan was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1991, and has earned a distinguished reputation as an expert in the areas of Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability.

In 2008, Dan was elected to the North Carolina Bar Association’s Executive Committee on Workers’ Compensation.

Dan is a frequent speaker at professional associations and law schools on the topic of mediation because of his own success in resolving cases without expensive litigation. In addition, Dan has an AV rating from Martindale- Hubbell, a worldwide objective legal rating service that evaluates a lawyer's legal ability and ethical standards.

Dan is a member of the N.C. Advocates for Justice (formerly N.C. Academy of Trial Lawyers), the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the N.C. Bar Association (NCBA), the Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group (WILG), the Greensboro Bar Association, (GBA), the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) and the Guilford Inn of Court. In 2005, he was admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.

In 2008, Dan was one of 24 Triad attorneys to receive an Impact Pro Bono Award. Given by the N.C. Bar Association and Business Leader Media, the awards recognize attorneys for their commitment to providing justice and access to legal representation to all North Carolinians, even those who are unable to pay.

Business Leader Media also named Dan as one of the Triad’s Impact Leaders in Law because of his accomplishments as a lawyer and his community service efforts.

Dan and his wife, Dawne, also endowed the Daniel Lyndon and Dawne Talbert Deuterman Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.

Dan lives in Greensboro, N.C., with his wife Dawne and their three sons.
