Deuterman Law Group Hires Attorney Bridget M. Goss

(Greensboro, N.C., October 6, 2008) -- Bridget M. Goss, a recent graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, has joined the Deuterman Law Group as the firm’s fifth attorney. She will focus on workers’ compensation cases.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisc., Goss graduated cum laude from the UNC-Asheville, where she was a starter on the school’s soccer team. She received a bachelor’s of science degree in environmental policy with a minor in economics. Goss earned her juris doctorate degree from the UNC School of Law in May 2008.

“We are excited to have a young attorney of Bridget’s caliber joining us,” President and founding attorney Daniel L. Deuterman said. “Like all of us here at the Deuterman Law Group, Bridget feels strongly about protecting the rights of injured people. She is a wonderful addition to our team.”

Originally, Goss planned to practice environmental law, which remains a passion of hers. But her experiences in law school changed her career focus to workers’ compensation, where she will be able to help injured people receive the medical treatment and benefits that they deserve.

While in law school, Goss was a competition member of the Broun National Trial Team and she won the Holderness Moot Court Gressman-Pollitt Award for Exemplary Skills in Appellate Advocacy. She was vice president and director of fundraising for the school’s Environmental Law Project and was also a contributing author for a CLE on environmental law. In addition, she was a coach and member of the UNC Mediation Competition Team.

While in law school, Goss was a clerk for Justice Robin Hudson, who served on the N.C. Court of Appeals and who is now on the State Supreme Court . She also was a summer associate at Van Winkle, Buck, Wall, Starnes & Davis, a law firm in Asheville. There, she worked closely with attorneys on a number of civil cases, including a wrongful death case and a wrongful termination case, and interacted with the firm’s clients.

Like others at Deuterman Law Group, Goss is committed to community service. In law school, she participated in the UNC Law Community Legal Project, which provides free legal service to low-income people. Here in Greensboro she hopes to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and other organizations.

Goss lives in Greensboro.
